Asbestos Sampling Procedures by AMD Environmental Consultants: Siding and Roofing

Asbestos Sampling Procedures by AMD Environmental Consultants: Siding and Roofing

At AMD Environmental, we prioritize safety and thoroughness in our asbestos sampling procedures. Our comprehensive process ensures the accurate identification of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) in various building components.

Exterior Siding Sampling

Our first step involves carefully examining exterior siding.

We collect samples from different layers, including:

Cementitious Siding: Often found in older constructions, this type of siding can contain asbestos fibers.

Vapor Barrier: Hidden beneath the exterior siding, this barrier is essential for moisture control but can also harbor asbestos.

Asphalt Siding: Another layer under the exterior siding, asphalt siding may also contain asbestos, necessitating careful sampling and analysis.

Roofing Component Sampling

Before any roof tear-off or remodeling, we sample all layers of the roofing system.

Roofing materials include:

Roof Shingles: Commonly used in various roofing applications, shingles may have asbestos, especially in older installations.

Vapor Barrier: Similar to exterior siding, the vapor barrier under roofing materials is sampled to check for asbestos.

Flashing, Roofing adhesives, and Tars: Critical for waterproofing, these components can contain asbestos and are carefully sampled to ensure safety during roof renovations.

Our sampling methods and analysis help identify and safely manage ACM, protecting property and people from potential asbestos exposure.
